Accounts Payable (AP) SAP module that includes the business functions for Vendor Management and Invoice Payment.
Accounts Receivable (AR) SAP module that includes the business functions for Customer Management, Invoicing, and Billing.
Adobe Interactive Form An electronic form within SAP used to create/change Personnel Master Data. Becomes part of employee’s record. (Adobe Acrobat Reader software required)
Alternative Qualification Offers an equivalent or comparable qualification. You can specify a percentage value (%) which determines the extent to which an alternative qualification replaces a qualification.

BRITE LITES BRITE LITES (Leaders in Technology Education and Support) - individuals who act as mentors in specific roles for the BRITE implementation.
Business Intelligence (BI) A repository of SAP information for the purpose of reporting
Cash Management (CM)/Treasury SAP module that includes the business functions for Bank Accounting, Investment Management, and Debt Management.

CO See Controlling.
Configuration Selecting options in SAP that will refine how transactions cater to business requirements without making changes to existing programs.
Controlling (CO) SAP module that includes the business functions for Cost Accounting, Allocations, and Distributions.
Customization Program development supporting SAP delivered functionality in order to meet specific business requirements of Broward. Examples of customization objects include forms, reports, interfaces, conversions, and enhancements and do not include changing standard SAP code.
Depreciation Meter Depreciation meter enables you to suggest scenarios whereby a qualification becomes outdated or elapses.
Employee iView Snapshot of specific pieces of employee information
Employee Self Service (ESS) A portal into SAP from the intranet or internet that gives employees the ability to access pay stubs as well as submit address changes and enroll in benefits.
Enterprise An organization or entity. With BRITE, “enterprise” refers to the Broward County Public Schools system.
Enterprise Resource System (ERP) A system to integrate all data and processes of an organization into a single unified structure. A key ingredient of most ERP systems is the use of a single, unified database (SAP ) to store data for the various system modules.
E-Recruitment SAP module that includes the business functions for Online Job Application, Pre Screening, and Applicant integration to Personnel Administration.

ESS Resident Expert A staff member who will act as the ESS "go-to" person at their location
Final Preparation The Final Preparation phase is to help prepare the district for going live with new system components.

General Ledger (GL) and Special Ledger SAP module that includes the business functions for Classification of Revenue, Expense, Balance Sheet, and Full Financial Reporting.

Go Live The purpose of Go Live phase is to move from a pre-production environment to a live production system. A support organization will be established for the first critical days of live operation as well as provide longer term support.

Manager Self-Service (MSS) A workplace for administrators to approve personnel actions created/changed by the HR Actions Processor (HRAP) - see also HRAP
Master Data Data from a centrally managed database.
Material Requirements Planning (MRP) SAP module that is used to monitor inventory levels and procure the requirement quantities on time for internal use.
Modules The specific SAP software that manages specific business functions. There are modules for Human Resources, Payroll, Finance, Budget, Operations, and Facilities.

Organizational Management (OM) SAP module that includes the business functions for Organizational Structure, Jobs, Positions and Reporting.

Payroll (PY) SAP module that includes the business functions for Wagetype Catalog, Salaries and Payments, Deductions, Tax Reporting, Integration, and Interfaces.

Personnel Administration (PA) SAP module that includes the business functions for Master Data Repository and Events and Status.
Personnel Development (PD) SAP module that includes the business functions for Employee Appraisals, Appraisal Catalog, Qualifications, Web Application, and Workflow.
Position Budget Control (PBC) SAP module that includes the business functions for Commitment Processor and Personnel Budgetary Planning.
Potential Sub Profiles Are used to forecast the suitability of an employee/applicant for a job/position, their potential for development, and the direction of development required. Potential Sub Profiles can be taken into account in career and succession planning scenarios.
Process Design Documents (PDDs) The documents that come out of the Blueprint and Validation sessions. PDDs provide: a narrative overview of the process; assumptions; expected results; performance measures; activities needed to support the process; decision or approval requirements; impact on any existing policies or procedures; impact on the organization; any outstanding decisions, issues, actions, or gaps that need to be addressed.
Proficiency Scale Can be assigned to each qualification.
Profiles Maintain particular attributes and information about an employee/applicant.
Project Preparation Phase The initial months of the project where the focus is to build an infrastructure for the project, to identify the project team members and to develop a detailed project plan. Initial training is performed, giving the project team a foundation in both the SAP software package and the implementation methodology and tools.

Qualification In the Qualification Catalog you can group qualifications by specifying a generic term for each group.
Qualification Sub Profile Maps the abilities and skills of the employee/applicant on the basis of the type of skill involved, and the degree of proficiency. Gives permissions to edit, manage, and evaluate the qualifications stored for an employee/applicant. Compares the requirements and qualifications of the employee/applicant against each job and position, thus establishing whether the employee/applicant is suitable for the position.
Qualifications Are used to define both qualification profiles and requirement profiles for an employee to list any skills, knowledge, or ability that the employee/applicant has, or plans to acquire.
Qualifications Catalog The instrument used by the SAP R/3 system (BRITE) to enable the tracking and matching of skills and qualifications to position requirements. The Qualifications Catalog can specify the mandatory or essential functions of a job. Maintaining the qualification catalog will enable BRITE end users to screen applicants for positions in the Recruitment module as well as utilize the career and succession planning abilities of the SAP R/3 system.
Realization The build phase of the project where the teams complete the configuration, customization and testing of the SAP system in order to meet the business requirements of BCPS based on the results of the Business Blueprint.
SAP Systems Applications and Products in Data Processing. SAP is the name of the software company and the software itself. Specifically, BCPS will be using mySAP ERP 2005.
SAP Portal A site that functions as a point of access to information on the web. Examples of a portal include Yahoo, Google, etc. SAP will be accessed through the BRITE portal

Strategic Enterprise Management Business Process Simulation (SEM BPS) SAP module that includes the business functions for Budget Preparation, Simulation, and Forecasting.

Time and Attendance Management (T&A) SAP module that includes the business functions for Time Recording, Schedules, Interfaces, and Reporting.
Training & Events Management (TEM) SAP module that includes the business functions for Business Event Planning, Attendance, Resources, Integration, and ESS.
Validation Session A meeting/session held to confirm and endorse system requirements.
Validity You can specify a validity period for qualification. This validity information enables you to show that certain qualifications expire and must be renewed at regular intervals (e.g., licenses).
