The Broward County Public School system serves students at-risk of dropping out of school in dropout prevention and supplemental academic programs at traditional schools and special centers throughout the county. Program delivery models vary and are designed to provide intensive academic and motivational assistance in grades K-12.
The main goal of these programs is to provide students with the necessary tools to foster personal, social and academic growth, thereby leading to a high school diploma.
The Dropout Prevention Department has merged with the Department of Accountability for the 2009-2010 school year. This merger focuses on the whole child in the school process. Additional dropout prevention services (Foster Care and Juvenile Deliquency services) are provided through the Student Support Services department.
The staff of the Accountability and Student Support Services department continues their commitment to providing quality dropout prevention support to students, teachers, parents and administrators.
