Exam Exemption

ÒStudent Responsibilities and AttendanceÓ

If you qualify to exempt an exam with a grade of ÒBÓ or higher in a class for both quarterly marking periods, then on Tuesday, December 6th you may begin to obtain the teacher signature approving your exemption. You can select up to three (3) semester exams to exempt.  Advanced Placement first semester exams CANNOT be exempted.  All End-of-Course (EOC) first semester exams (including Algebra 1, Algebra 1B, Geometry, Geometry Honors, Biology, and Biology Honors) CANNOT be exempted.

The green-colored Exam Exemption Form with original teacher and parent/guardian signatures is due in Main Guidance by 12:34 p.m. on Friday, December 16th.  No late forms will be accepted.  No duplicate forms will be accepted—if you turn in two forms, both forms will be null and void and you will have to take all of your exams.

Students, please choose your exemptions wisely:

¥          If you have chosen to exempt an exam, you will NOT be able to change your decision after your form has been turned in.

¥          If you have chosen to exempt an exam but your second quarter grade falls below a "B" (because of tests, quizzes or assignments that were given AFTER the exemption was approved), then your exemption will be withdrawn and it is your responsibility to study and be present for the midterm exam.

¥          If your second quarter grade falls below a "B" and your exemption is withdrawn, you will NOT be able to replace this exemption with another exemption after the form has been turned in.

¥          Remember, the RESPONSIBILITY of: 1) choosing your exemptions wisely; 2) obtaining all required signatures (teacher, parent/guardian and student) on the Exam Exemption Form; 3) turning in the Exam Exemption Form ON TIME; and 4) verifying with each teacher that you are still approved to exempt his/her exam RESTS SOLELY WITH YOU, THE STUDENT.

Exam Attendance (January 13 - 19):

Regular First and Second Period classes will be held on Friday, January 13th.   The Period 7 Exam will follow Second Period. If you have been approved to exempt Period 7, then you are not required to be on campus for the Period 7 Exam. No sign-out is required.

On Tuesday (1/17), Wednesday (1/18), and Thursday (1/19), if you walk or provide your own transportation, you are free to be on campus only during the exams that you are taking.  You may go directly to your scheduled exam without signing in and you may leave after your exam WHEN THE BELL RINGS and you are dismissed without signing out. Any student taking an exam must remain in their exam classroom for the entire testing period.

Students who use bus transportation will hold in the cafeteria during any period that they have exempted an exam.  If you are on campus and you are NOT testing, you are expected to be in the cafeteria.
