Digital Divide Hardware Requirements
Computers donated to the Digital Divide Program must be in "good" working condition. Specifically, machines must:
1. Boot to the desktop without issue.
2. Have a bright, functional display with no issues.
3. Be complete systems.
a. Desktops must have a working mouse, working display and working keyboard.
b. Laptops must have a battery and working AC adapter.
Computer Minimum Standards Requirements
The Digital Divide Program adheres to a set of minimum standards for computers surplused/donated to the Program. Remember to abide by the hardware requirements previously listed as Digital Divide "does not repair broken computers." Digital Divide techs will test the items and load a standard Digital Divide image for their subsequent distribution to eligible participants.
Digital Divide ONLY accepts desktop and laptop computers, not printers, scanners, etc.. The 3290A Form (Surplus Form) must be completed and signed then either faxed to 754-321-0094 or scanned and emailed to Diggi@browardschools.com. Digital Divide will contact the person listed on the form.
If you are unsure whether or not your computer meets the qualifications for surplusing to Digital Divide, please contact diggi@browardschools.com. If surplusing technology items not meeting Digital Divide criteria, please contact "B-Stock"--not Digital Divide, for processing and pick-up. The information that follows contqins "minimum specifications" in place as of 10/1/2008.

Digital Divide Refurbishing Process
Digital Divide technicians clean computers, monitors, mice, power adapters and keyboards.
Digital Divide technicians boot each system to the desktop and test for functionality. Digital Divide technicians initialize hard drives and install a standard image.
Digital Divide DOES NOT accept or repair broken computers.
