PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Public Service programs in Broward County represent a varied list of offerings at both the secondary and post-secondary level, which are interrelated by their impact on the community. While such programs as Fire Fighting and Criminal Justice characterize the mainstay of the program areas represented, Broward supports additional studies in subjects such as Teacher Assisting and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations. Working in conjunction with their appropriate industry representatives, through the exploration of current high-wage fields, students are exposed to "state-of-the-art" industry-based practices. Each lab incorporates the latest examples of technology-related equipment, including the use of job-specific computers, software and machinery. Additionally, a variety of processes intended to assist in relaying both written and verbal communication are investigated.

Each program is designed to offer students the opportunity to preview various career fields within this growing job market, nationally. They are encouraged to develop occupational goals and plan a successful path to accomplish these objectives.
