Family & Consumer Science
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The mission of Family and Consumer
Sciences is to strengthen families and empower individuals
to take actions for the well-being of self and others
in the home, workplace, community and the world.
Broward County programs include curriculum and learning
experiences focusing on work, families and their inter-relationships.
These programs, services and activities are designed
to prepare youth and adults for occupations in Family
and Consumer Sciences as well as address important personal,
family, work, and societal issues. Training is provided
for individuals needing job skills for initial employment
and for those who need to upgrade or be retrained for
professional advancement.
Courses begin at the middle school level with exploratory
classes. High school students may participate in practical
arts courses as well as obtain training in the technical
program areas of Early Childhood Education, Culinary
Operations, Interior Décor and Fashion Production.
Post Secondary programs focus on Early Childhood Education
and Culinary Operations.
