Adult Education & Family Literacy
Adults with Disablilities - Comprehensive

This comprehensive educational program enables disabled adults to acquire and develop the skills to gain self-sufficiency and increase their level of independence. These individuals may have one or more of the following disabilities: profound, moderate, or educable mental retardation, emotional or physical disabilities, traumatic brain injury, specific learning disabilities, visual or hearing impairments, and autism. Referrals can be made from area agencies, centers, schools and the community.

Instruction is provided in academics, functional living skills, interpersonal skills, computer-assisted instruction, and pre-employability skills. Community-based instructional activities are scheduled throughout the year to reinforce appropriate social skills, grooming, money management, leisure activities, and work skills training. An AIEP (Adult Individual Education Plan) is written for every adult enrolled in the program.

Students provide their own transportation. Programs run on a ten-month calendar. The student must have the ability to perform all personal needs, be capable of self-movement, possess appropriate behavioral skills, and have the necessary abilities to benefit from instruction.
