Enrollment
If you are choosing to withdraw
your child from a Broward County Public School and enroll into Home
Education, please read carefully the information below.
You may click on any of the blue
highlighted links, forms or statutes for further directions and
procedures to comply with Home Education Enrollment.
Upon deciding to establish and maintain a home education program for
your child, you will be governed by Florida statutes regarding
compulsory school age attendance laws as they relate to home education.

A
student must be of school age to be enrolled in Home
Education, as specified in
section 1003.21, Florida Statutes.

The
law requires the custodial parent(s)/guardian(s) of home
education students to:

Submit a
letter of intent
within 30 days of establishing a home education program

Maintain a portfolio containing work samples and a log of
educational activities
-
Provide an Annual
Evaluation as specified in
section 1002.41, Florida Statutes
-
Annually report the evaluation results by sending them to the
Home Education Office
-
Preserve each student's portfolio for two years and make it
available for inspection by the Superintendent's designee, with
a 15-day written notice
-
Submit a Notice
of Termination within 30 days of concluding a home education
program

If
your child is currently attending a Broward
school, withdraw your child and submit a
letter of intent to establish a home education
program to the Superintendent of Schools via US mail,
CERTIFIED/RETURN
RECEIPT REQUESTED. The certified receipt will be your confirmation that
your child is enrolled. Due to high mailing costs, the district
DOES NOT MAIL a letter of confirmation. Include in your letter your
child’s legal name, address, date of birth, phone number and your signature.
