This course is designed to help physical education teachers incorporate the FCAT 2.0 skills of writing, reading, and mathematics into their curriculum. Class participants are expected to use the information and examples provided within the course to complete assignments of meaningful physical education FCAT 2.0 strategies/mini-lessons that will be shared among course participants. Participants will review FCAT history, testing formats and test parameters.

Obesity: A Weapon of Mass Destruction more information

This course explores the five health related fitness components and expands on ways the physical educator can attack the obesity epidemic by effectively incorporating these components into the physical education curriculum.

Physical Activity & Asthmamore information

Physical Education teachers, classroom teachers and coaches for grades K-12 will understand the basics of asthma and learn to handle students who have asthma. They will begin by learning what happens to the body during an asthma attack and other facts about the condition. Next, they will explore the triggers, symptoms, and precautions of asthma. Finally, they will understand the importance of asthma management and strategies on how to share this information with their students and the student’s parents.

Reading for the Specialsmore information

This course is designed for elementary art, music and physical education teachers to help them implement reading strategies appropriate to their content area.  Participants will be exposed to strategies that can be used daily in their content area.
