Who are the Gifted in Your Neighborhood? (cont.)

Harriet pictureHarriett is a very literal thinker. Everything is black and white and she has difficulty with abstract concepts. She is an extraordinary artist and very creative enabling her to express her thinking visually. Once Harriett grasps a concept she is fine, but many times this requires her to read a problem or passage over and over because the question is open-ended and abstract and she cannot “see” the answer right away.

Albert pictureAlbert is extremely verbal, saying whatever he wants to say, whenever he wants to say it. He has little regard for other people’s feelings appearing to be insensitive, however, his feelings are hurt and he feels slighted very easily. He is very domineering and wants everything to run his way. At times, Albert exhibits a very warm, sweet side – when his guard is down. He possesses an amazing, dry sense of humor.

Xian picture

Xian is just mastering the English language. In his writing you can clearly see that he is translating from his native Chinese into English. He is very conscientious, is a master at chess and other games of strategy, but very rarely volunteers to participate in class activities.

Shaquella

Shaquella loves to socialize. She is forever getting out of her seat to visit and/or help her friends when she perceives they are struggling. She is always looking to do extra credit work even though her homework is turned in on a regular basis. Her class work, however, leaves a lot to be desired. She does poorly because she is always looking around to see what everybody else is doing.
