Education Technology Services (ETS) developed the Go Green Program for Output Reduction to help schools and departments implement environmentally friendly programs for output devices. The goal of the program is to reduce the consumption of paper and supplies for printers, copiers and fax machines. In addition to being good for the environment, this program results in operating budget savings so that funds can be redirected to support other educational costs at the schools. The Go Green Program for Output Reduction encourages locations to create a plan setting quarterly goals and benchmarks for sites to follow towards "greening" their schools. Since the inception of the program in 2008/09, the 45 participating schools reported saving a total of $399,438.43.
