The next step after 5th grade in Broward County is Middle School. In the Bayview area the middle school is Sunrise Middle School.

Middle School is a big step and the transition can be daunting, so here is a little information about Sunrise Middle School that can smooth the process.

Before the move, the 5th graders make visits to see the new school and the shadowing program begins. A mentor philosophy is effected where an older student can provide help and guidance to the newcomer.

Within the school system teams are established to provide closer associations.

The school itself is broken down into four main learning centers, 6th Grade, 7th Grade, 8th Grade and Montessori, plus other common blocks. This means that the school consists of four smaller school enviroments that the student become at ease with.

The school has many programs, most notably:

and, of course,MONTESSORI.
