PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The purpose of the Homeless Education Program (HEP) is to identify homeless  students, remove systemic barriers to their education, including school enrollment, transportation and reassignments; provide them with supplemental academic and counseling case management services as well as linkages to their school social worker while maintaining school as the students stable environment.

WHAT SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE
  • School based volunteer tutorial instruction
  • Shelter based supplemental academic instruction, self esteem building and educational case management counseling
  • Provide school supplies and book bags to homeless students
  • Assist with school registrations
  • Assist with school transportation
  • Identification and referral to any support services
  • Assist with boundary exemptions
  • Staff Development
  • Case Management
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Homework Assistance
  • Career Awareness
  • Presentations to community agencies and civic groups
  • Coordinate summer services for students residing at family shelters
