PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Psychological
Services, one of
several service
delivery areas
within the
Division of
Exceptional
Student
Education &
Support
Services,
provides
leadership for a
comprehensive
program of
psychological
services
provided by over
140 school
psychologists
employed by the
school district.
Services
provided
include:
psycho-educational
evaluations;
consultation
with teachers
and staff on
student’s
academic,
behavioral, and
mental health
needs;
assistance with
intervention
design,
implementation,
and progress
monitoring of
student’s
academic and
behavioral
problems (RtI
methods) as a
core member of
the
Collaborative
Problem Solving
team at each
Broward school;
responding to
crises in all
district
schools;
coordination of
threat
assessment
training and
monitoring
activities;
participation in
threat
assessments and
violence
prevention
activities;
management of
the School
Psychology
Internship
Program;
recruitment of
candidates for
school
psychologist
positions;
provision of
professional
development
experiences in
innovative
practice skills;
collaboration
with school
district staff
in making
effective use of
psychological
services;
evaluation of
psychological
services;
participation in
state and
federal
compliance
mandates; and
maintenance of
psychological
records.
Psychological
Services is a
past recipient
of the
Excellence in
School
Psychology Award
jointly
presented by the
American
Psychological
Association and
the National
Association of
School
Psychologists;
and the
Innovative
Practices in
School
Psychology Award
from the Florida
Association of
School
Psychologists.
