What elements will be addressed?

Policies and procedures for decision-making are established

Why is it occuring?

Previously, teachers have attended RTI meetings with an inaccurate understanding of the entire child. The school struggled in policy and procedures in RTI. There was much confusion over the most impactful way to run a meeting and develop useful strategies to improve student behavior and academics. Additionally, teachers were not aware of previous student scores and outside factors that may be influences the learning process.

What are we going to do about it?

In order to ensure a valid and relaible RTI process, the team will develop a protocol that will be used by teachers prior to any RTI meeting.

Action Plan

1. Collaborative, develop a RTI folder that serves as a resource for teachers
2. During a face to face presentation--instruct teachers on how to use new packets to gather information.
3. A team member is aligned to do a cum review and report findings
4. Teacher of record is asked to bring all current assessments in all areas including the areas of writing.
5. Teachers and parents share concerns and compare the student to the typical class.
6. Team members problem solve strategies to help close the achievement gap
7. Interventions are progress monitored every 4-6 weeks during anything RTI
8. If student is making gains, they are monitored.
9. If student is not making gains or has regressed, the team many have a conversation regarding an formal observation.

How will we monitor and measure our success?

The team will monitor and measure student success by revisiting each RTI goal presented during the meeting. If the student has met the goal then that would be a successful intervention. However, if the student has not met a goal or regressed, they may need an alternate intervention or a formal evaluation depending on that individual student.
