School attendance data are provided reporting percent of students with satisfactory attendance, at-risk attendance, chronic absenteeism, and severe chronic absenteeism. The two-year trend allows for comparison of attendance over time and an indication of how strategies implemented to improve attendance are working. The percentage of Coral Cove Elementary students that are consirdered At Risk in regards to their attendance will increase by at least 1%, by the end of the 2018-2019 school year as measured by information entered into Basis 3.0. In order to insure that the At Risk students will increase by at least 1% is positive incentives promoted by the school and classroom teachers. Such as, point systems where they can earn points for each day they are present in school. Once they accumulate an attainable amount the student and/or family will be recognized.

Tier 1 Strategies for Attendance - Address all five core ingredients. Tier 1 is aimed at 100% of students, parents, school staff, and community stakeholders. This is where you cast a wide net. Strategies are general to reach the largest audiences and include all employees and stakeholders. Tiered plans will include strategies and interventions for the 5 core ingredients. - Monitor Data

Tier 1 strategies for attendance currently at Coral Cove Elementary, is daily attendance taken by classroom teachers, attendance line that is reviewed by our office staff to ensure that absences are excused or unexcused. Teachers monitor the data in the classroom and give points for attendance that can be accumulated for a reward. Spotlight on students who have received 100% attendance at ceremonies, that are acknowledged by teachers and administration. These students are then invited to an ice cream party.

Tier 2 Strategies and Interventions to Improve Attendance - Address all five core ingredients. Tier 2 identifies students using early warning indicators to make connections with students and families at the onset of the school year or emergence of patterns of non-attendance. Early warning indicators include prior year chronic absenteeism, 3 or more absences in the first 4 weeks of enrollment, more than 10% of school days absent in any time period from the beginning of enrollment. - Tier 2 represents between 10-20% of students at all schools in Broward County. This is true at individual schools and across the District. - Chronic Absenteeism: Absent for 10% or more school days. These absences include excused, unexcused, and suspensions as days of instruction missed. Tiered plans will include strategies and interventions for the 5 core ingredients. - Monitor Data

Tier 2 strategies involve the review of attendance data to identify families that may need more support, in reference to arriving to school in a timely manner and refraining from being absent. These families will then be provided with support and strategies to improve their students' attendance. Bus routes will be evaluated to see if there is an opportunty for this family to ride the bus in order to assist with this task. Whether is be a public school bus or the public transportation system. Goals will then be set with families and incentives will be put in place at the time of the meeting. Once the plan is in place, the student's attendance data will be monitored by the classroom teachers's attendance incentive program.

Tier 3 Interventions - Address all five core ingredients. Tier 3 is the highest level of intervention and support for students that are absent 20% or more school days during the year. - At most schools, Tier 3 interventions are utilized for about 5% (or less) of the student population. Tiered plans will include strategies and interventions for the 5 core ingredients. - Monitor Data

Tier 3 intervention strategies involve the review of attendance data, in order to identify patterns. Teachers will refer students to our Problem Solving Team. The team will meet to discuss patterns and concerns. These patterns and/or concerns are then discussed with the parent or guardian and a plan will be set in place to improve attendance. If needed, the assistant principal, guidance counselor, and social worker will intervene. The parents will then be connected with a support system, and referred to the appropriate agencies for assistance.
