The Network Integration (NI) Unit has major responsibilities in five key areas of I&T service delivery. These include: field support for computers, printers, servers; and digital classroom equipment; design and maintenance of LAN and telephone infrastructure; E-Rate program management and major technology procurements; management of various technology standards-setting and training operations; and design and review services related to new construction.

The core service of the Metro Technical Services (MTS) team is to extend the useful life of district standard technology by continuing repairs and parts replacements for equipment out of warranty including: student laptops and desktops, Teacher/administrator laptops and desktops, laser printers, Servers, and KRONOS clocks.

LinkDigital Divide – The Digital Divide program in Broward Schools focuses on increasing the number of school
families who have technology in the home for the purpose of extending the learning environment. We accomplish
that by recycling surplus classroom computers to eligible families, and by partnering with corporate programs to
     augment that goal.

LinkGo Green Program for Output Reduction - Our goal is to help reduce the consumption of paper and supplies for
printers, copiers, fax machines and other output devices. In addition to being good for the environment, our hope
is that this program will result in cost savings in each site's operating budget so that funds can be redirected to
     support other student learning projects.

LinkMetro Tech – The Computer Repair Department repairs out-of-warranty computer and peripheral equipment
including desktop and laptop computers (Apple and Dell), printers, keyboards/mice, and related equipment. MTS
also repairs mishandled equipment that the manufacturers do not cover under warranty. Computer repair techs
provide telephone and on-site support for users.

LinkNetwork Integration – Network Integration works to ensure that local area networks and end user devices
provide Broward Schools' students and staff to systems that promote communications, enrich the teaching and
learning environment, and provide access to core I&T business solutions.

LinkSoftware Management Module (SMM) – Use the SMM Website to view all software used in the District. The Software Evaluation Committee must approve all software used in the District.

LinkStandard Items – Many standards have been set by the Technology Standards Committee and the District's
Purchasing Department. Click on the links to the left to find the Purchasing Agent and the detailed information
      for each category.

LinkTechnical Training – Network Integration coordinates the Technical Training that is available to all schools and departments. Locate the training calendars for Technical Training that is available within the District. Online       Resources and Videos are also available.

LinkTechnology Standards – This website provides resources to assist technology users across the Broward County
Public School system make appropriate purchasing and deployment decisions. It is also a resource for District
staff engaged in the standards development process to coordinate and document their efforts.

LinkTelecommunications – Network Integration works to ensure that local area networks and end user devices
provide Broward Schools' students and staff to systems that promote communications, enrich the teaching and       learning environment, and provide access to core I&T business solutions.

LinkTLC Reference – Site Based Tech Support Program. The Technology Liaison Contact (TLC) Program is coordinated
by Information & Technology (I&T) for the purpose of providing essential and timely information to schools
and district departments to effectively support technology at your site. I&T supports TLCs through a combination
of training and monthly meetings, as well as 24x7 resources such as the CAB conferences and "Service desk"
website.  I&T added two features to the program in 2009-10: the "HOTS" Lab for Hands on Training and Support
for one-on-one support and online access to the Remedy Incident Management system to enter select service
     requests.
